Profs. A. Chen, J. Lipkowski , A. Houmam, P. Rowntree, D. Thomas, J. Dutcher and X.R. Qin were awarded an NSERC RTI grant ($150k) to upgrade the UHV system at the ETC.

Research at the University of Guelph’s Electrochemical Technology Centre Will Help Save Our Planet

The University of Guelph’s Electrochemical Technology Centre (ETC) is working on multiple ways to help the environment. For example, Prof. Aicheng Chen is working on turning graphite into graphene and Prof. Dan Thomas is improving fuel cells for cars to make them more eco-friendly. Moreover, Prof. Khashayar Ghandi is finding ways to capture carbon dioxide and detect harmful bacteria and viruses. Finally, Prof. John Dutcher is helping to make plastic pipes last longer and reduce waste.

Research Group Students received awards from the GWC2 (2019)

Congratulations to Antony R. Thiruppathi and Joseph Cirone on receiving an award from the Guelph-Waterloo Centre for Graduate Work in Chemistry and Biochemistry (GWC2). Antony R. Thiruppathi (Advisor: A. Chen) was awarded the Graduate Student Excellence Award - Guelph Campus of the GWC2. Joseph Cirone (Advisor: A. Chen) won the Graduate Seminar Prize - Guelph Campus and David Holden Memorial Scholarship of the GWC2.
